A practice match is……a thread where two players with chosen teams write strategies to defeat one another, and anyone can discuss the outcome and vote. The match isn't part of any Tournament and so the outcome isn't counted to anything.
To request a practice match……post in this thread. You can post the team you want to play immediately, or arrange with someone you want to play with for your teams to be picked in secret. That's up to you to arrange, but section staff will be happy to help.
Once you've arranged an opponent and your teams, you need somebody to pick you a location and distance. This can be anybody at all – it could even be one of you if you both agree. Section staff will help, but if you've got someone on IM then you can ask them to do it too.
Anybody can then post the practice match, once it's your turn.
Don't request a practice match if……you've just had one. Please don't be on the Queue List twice.
Also don't request a practice match if there's a request that hasn't been met above you – you can pair off with that player. Feel free to refuse to play someone and request a separate match, but make it clear.
You can post the thread when……the number of active (not locked) practice matches is below the maximum number, and your match is high enough on the Queue List. It doesn't have to be top of the list though: if there are two 'spaces' for matches and you're the second on the Queue List, you can post it.
The maximum number of practice matches is…During a Tournament or Trial Tournament — 2
Elsewhen (yes, I said 'elsewhen') — 4
The Queue looks like…Queue ListPlayer A vs. Player B
Player C vs. Player D
Player E vs. Player F
etc.
The Queue is updated by……everybody, when appropriate. This thread should be able to operate without the staff. If you come in and you find that it's not clear what the Queue List is, please update it yourself. Staff can't guarantee the ability to maintain this thread.
A practice match is over when……it has been open for 3 days, or completely inactive for 2. A practice match doesn't need to be locked for you to post the next one in the queue, but if it's not please VM one of the section staff to have them close it as soon as they can.
You should only post here to……ask for a match, accept a match, arrange a match or update the Queue List.
