| What is Godmodding/God-moding?
Basically God moding is when a player takes actions to make their character unbeatable, this can be either active or passive. A person can passively do this by just having their character get lucky all of the time. Somewhat like a get out of jail free card. Active ways to do this are to basically take controls of others and NPCs and use them to become punching bags against their will. This doesn't include beating up fodder all the time, but if there is a huge dragon that no one can beat and your character comes along and one shots it...then you might be godmodding.
OOC - Out of Character, any speech or discussion done out of character is referred to as OOC. Depending on the role play, you might be able to speak out of character in the main game thread. Usually you have to bracket or put it in parenthesis.
1. Story/Back Story - The opening post should include some kind of story and direction of story.
2. Grouping - Will your RP be solo, where players travel on their own and meet up at liesure. Will it be team based with competing sides that sometimes work together? Or will the RP be group based where one group travels around together.
3. Rules - Your RP will need basic guidelines.
4. A Map - This is kind of optional, but it helps if people know what kind of places there will be and how things are laid out. It keeps things orgainized and from getting confusing.
5. Item/Spell/Equipement Lists - Many RPs have things that can be bought or earned in game. Let people know how to earn things and how much they will cost or if there are to be any restrictions. In some free RPs, things are determined by players.
6. Character Sheet - Its important for characters to have their information posted somewhere and for that information to be availble for all to see as a reference. This keeps people from mixing up the hair and eye color of other people.
7. Where is the other info posted - If you have a wiki or other posts further along in the thread, make links to them in the first or second post. | |
